In early 2024, a simple conversation started. Austin was helping his friend D— (name redacted for undercover investigation reasons) work through a few technology and administration issues for a side project private investigation business when the conversation turned to the issue of missing persons cases. D— emphasized the magnitude of the problem of missing persons nationwide and the moral dilemma that exists in issuing invoices to desperate families working to rescue loved ones. That’s when the research began. For over a decade, Austin has been involved in trying to fight against child trafficking and exploitation, partnering with multiple organizations in various states, but the issue of trafficking and exploitation had never been described as having a connection to the work of private investigators. During that time of research, the stories began to flood in and a needed response became obvious: we have to help!
Austin and D— began exploring options for reducing the cost of hiring a local private investigator while also increasing investigation efforts. Again, the solution was simple: this must be a collective effort, this must be a mission driven by a community, this must be a ministry of the Church. If we can gather together and come alongside these desperate families, we can sponsor full-time investigative efforts that are relentlessly searching for missing children. The cost is tremendous per family to hire a private investigator, but together that burden is light and easy. And, so, MissingNoMore was born.
Austin Reina is the founding director of MissingNoMore and has previously served as a pastor, psychotherapist, and adjunct psychology professor. He lives and serves in Arizona with his wife and kids.
D— is an experienced investigator living in Arizona, but he is licensed as an investigator in multiple states. He is also a decorated Marine trained in search and rescue who served in the War on Terror with honor and distinction. Since the initial conversation, D—, a father himself, has continued to be a vital voice and volunteer at MissingNoMore often giving freely of his time and service.
Austin received his Bachelor’s of Arts in Biblical Studies from Fresno Pacific University. While living in Fresno, he worked as a pastor at a couple different churches while devoting his efforts to serving the homeless community living in the downtown area. After moving to Arizona, he received his Master’s in Science from Grand Canyon University in Professional Counseling. Throughout his career he specialized in treatments for substance use disorders, depression, and anxiety with a particular emphasis on trauma and grief therapy. As the director of MissingNoMore, in addition to actively joining search and rescue operations, his efforts are focused on educating the community on how they can join the fight to protect children. He is convinced that the fight is easier than most people believe: GIVE what you can, SHARE the message, VOLUNTEER your time. Together, we can make a difference!
