A Call to Prayer

for Missing, Exploited, and Trafficked Children

Day 7

Thank you for joining Day 7 of the 10-day prayer initiative for missing, exploited, and trafficked children. On this day, we remember that the Lord lacks for nothing and gives generously to His children; but, our attention is on God’s multiple of resources so that He alone may be glorified as we pursue the work of the Kingdom of God. Our hearts should be drawn to Christ’s feeding of the masses in which he blessed the simple offerings of bread and fish given in faith. The multiplication is not for own benefit, but for His glory and for the benefit of those in need.

Again, each day in this initiative includes Scriptures upon which to read and reflect, a basic discussion regarding the intention of the prayer topic, and a prayer that is to simply serve as a guide or starting point; what matters most is that we are directed by Biblical truth, lean into further intimacy with the heart of God, and be lead by the Spirit.

Praying for the Multiplication of Resources

The Lord lacks nothing; He is not in need of resources, and He does not struggle to provide. The God of heaven and earth is the Creator who brought everything into existence by the command of His voice. Everything from nothing. And, this truth of His character is not limited to the act of creation; Scripture is full of examples in which He proves to His people that He is the God who brings dry bones to life in the barren wilderness, causes flowing rivers of fresh water to spring from dry lands, provides sweet honey from a rock enough to satisfy all, and multiplies in extravagant abundance the simple offering of five loaves and two fish. We are called to follow and trust Christ, to make seeking His Kingdom our highest priority, to give what we have generously and joyfully, and to rest in His provision of daily bread. And, in our efforts to rescue missing kids and combat the evils of trafficking and exploitation, we should pray that the Lord will bless the resources of law enforcement officers, local churches, and nonprofit organizations throughout our communities—in the same way Christ blessed and multiplied the loaves and fish—so that children may get the help they need without hindrances.

“The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:5b-6

Prayer

Heavenly Father, give us this day our daily bread. You have said that if we ask it will given, that if we abide in You and align our hearts to Your will whatever we ask will be done, and that You are the Good Father who gives good gifts to those who ask. God, we come before You today to ask that You will multiply our offerings given in faithfulness and augment our resources just as You, through the prophet Elisha, blessed the poor widow’s oil giving her even more than she needed. Lord, poor out Your blessings, distribute it freely and abundantly, that we may have all that we need to combat the wickedness of traffickers and child predators, to care for the hurting, and to glorify Your name.

We pray, Lord, that You will lead us into financial wisdom and righteous accountability. Teach us to understand Your praise of the poor widow who gave out of her poverty. Bless our offerings and find favor in the heart attitude in which we gave; then, Jesus, multiply it—for Your glory, praise, and purposes, bless and multiply our resources.

Holy Spirit, lead us to use these resources for the advancement of the Kingdom, for the purposes of Your will, and for the glory of God alone. We know, Lord, that to whom much is given much is required; and, Jesus, we ask that You require much of us. Amen.

“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. As it is written, ‘He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.’ He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-10
