A Call to Prayer
for Missing, Exploited, and Trafficked Children
Day 1
Thank you for joining Day 1 of the 10-day prayer initiative for missing, exploited, and trafficked children. The focus of this day is centering wholly on praying declarations of praise for the holiness of God. The desire is that through this time of prayer we will stand as the united people of God prayerfully praising and pleading for the movement of the Spirit across our neighborhoods, communities, cities, state, nation, and world; the tragedy of missing kids, child trafficking, and sexual exploitation is one that should unify the Body of Christ to come before the Lord seeking His righteousness, His justice, and His compassion.
Each day in this initiative includes Scriptures upon which to read and reflect, a basic discussion regarding the intention of the prayer topic, and a prayer that is to simply serve as a guide or starting point; what matters most is that we are directed by Biblical truth, lean into further intimacy with the heart of God, and be lead by the Spirit.
Throughout this call to prayer, share your prayers in the comments that we may join you through this journey.
Praying Declarations of Praise for the Holiness of God
“The heavens declare the glory of God, the sky proclaims His handiwork.” Psalm 19:1
“Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” Revelation 4:8b
Throughout Scripture we are reminded that when we come before the Lord, when we enter into His presence in times of prayer, we should rejoice in His greatness and praise His name. And, as His people, as those now called by His name, as His beloved Church, we are able to join the songs of worship forever sung by the choirs of heaven saying, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty!” Before we come to Him brokenhearted with prayers of intercession for the hurting, vulnerable, and exploited, we remember who He is. The Lord our God, the Prince of Peace, is “the God who sees” (אֵל רֳאִי, El Roi)—the God of Heaven who saw and protected Hagar and her infant as they were abandoned in the wilderness (Genesis 16:13); He knows the afflictions of His people, and He hears their cries (Exodus 3:7). Tragically, children are reported missing every day and become vulnerable targets for exploitation from traffickers; but nothing is beyond His sight, and no difficulty is too hard for Him. The Savior of the World sees, and He is mighty to save!
Rejoice in the Lord always: again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:4-7
“I adore you, O Lord, my strength. O Lord my rock, my fortress, my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I seek refuge, my shield, my horn of rescue, my haven. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.” Psalm 18:1-3
“Ah, Lord God! It is you who made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.” Jeremiah 32:17
“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” Zephaniah 3:17
Prayer
Lord, You are great and worthy to be praised. May Your name, Jesus, the name above all names, be exalted in the heavens. We praise You, God, for You, O Lord, are not only our safe haven, our salvation, our shield, and the solid rock upon which we stand, but You are also our Father whose voice makes the darkness tremble and whose hands hold us safe in Your grace and love. We know, God, that nothing is too hard for You, no problem is too difficult; in Your presence, the seas are parted and the mountains bow. We bring everything before Your throne, and we cast all our cares at the foot of the cross; for You are mighty to save!
Through Your voice, Abba, the heavens and the earth were made, and so we stand in humble awe that You choose to sing Your love over us. Thank you, Lord! May Your name be lifted high in shouts of praise across the earth, in every nation, in our country, in our state, in our cities, in our neighborhoods, and in our homes. We love you, Jesus! We adore you! May the praise of our hearts be a sweet sound to your ear and a blessing to Your mighty name. Amen.
“And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!” Revelation 5:13
